I’m using a speed bump on a road as the basis for my analogy.
Here’s where my thoughts start, the slower drivers with a basic, inexpensive vehicles, will be going at a speed they can handle. The duration for which the effects of the speed bump are felt is the longest. The rising-and-falling sensation and the stresses the vehicle endures slow the already slow journey. The vehicle rattles and complains of the exertion; if it wasn’t already close to breaking, it’s even closer now.
Now comes the luxury vehicle, high-technology, able to absorb any impact. The driver hardly feels anything; the vehicle’s physical interaction with the speed bump is likely to cause more damage to the latter. The driver is smug in the knowledge that the speed bump will barely register, while those with less advanced vehicles have to slow down to protect their vessel, often key to their livelihood.
So, those with resources, money, and higher technology have a more comfortable journey through life’s trials, tribulations, and speed bumps.
